Halloween!!

So this year for Halloween we decided to do a little tricking AND treating! We made cupcakes for some friends. Derek and I got to put our creative minds to work and came up with some beauties!

The Frankenstein is Derek's. It was awesome! :)

At the trunk-or-treat we found Nemo! He was so cute! I don't think we will give him back!

Second place winners! Woohoo!

Props (pun intended) to D for the amazing "butt", I mean boat!

It was a ton of fun! We saw a lot of our primary kids there which was great!

Yes, I married a 10 year old.

We camped out that night...

... in our living room!

In the end, we had a great Halloween. We ended up having WAY too much candy afterwards because we got NO trick or treaters!!! So if you find us dead or in a coma with candy wrappers all around, you know what happened. Happy Halloween!

Starting Solids!

The time has come. Yes, we are now on the brink of starting solids for our young fellow Luke. I think he is quite excited although he doesn't know it is coming. He is however very interested in anything that I am eating. He actually got mad at me today for not sharing in the joy of some saltine crackers! We'll be starting with some rice cereal first and then move on to the good stuff! So now that I am prepping myself for this event, are there any tips, tricks or advice that I should be aware of? And what about making your own baby food? Yay? Nay?

Not What I Intended...

So Derek and I are still learning how to balance our lives. We get the necessary things done day to day but are still working out the kinks. One thing that I have especially missed was going to the temple. You never really realize how much you depend on it until you don't really have the opportunity to go. Derek and I had not been to the temple since May! (we live like 10 min. away... :( ) This past Friday Derek's mom was here and kicked us out of the apartment so that we could go. Thank goodness for Grandmas!!

It was so wonderful to be able to go to the temple with Derek. My house is pretty peaceful but is nothing compared to the temple. To have my mind and heart fully at peace was so amazing. Many memories of when Derek and I were married came flooding through my mind. And then memories of my Grandpa Frost. It was hard not being there to say good-bye or even to his funeral. I had been so excited to bring Luke down to Flagstaff for them to meet but instead I know they met in heaven. In fact, I think he gave Luke's cute little behind a push so that he would come early (which he did.) I know that Heavenly Father sent Luke just after Grandpa's passing because He knew He had to send someone special if He was going to take someone special. And what a special blessing Luke is in my life.

I never meant for this to result as my post. But once you start writing I guess the truth comes out of what you need to say. :)

Happy Anniversary!

Well, it’s actually our 13 month anniversary today. But in the midst of our shuffle, our 1st anniversary came around! If I did not blog about this or the man I married I would truly be ungrateful.

On our actual anniversary (Aug. 16) we had just barely moved into our new apartment. With boxes and bags all over the floor, our kitchen table in the middle of the living room, we ate Costa Vida (yum!) and watched LOST. (Yes, we’re addicts). Derek surprised me with a beautiful floral arrangement! I was so shocked because we had been moving all day and been together the entire time (he told a white lie to go get them). It was such a fun night to spend together!

There are many times when I stop and wonder if I really deserve Derek. He is my rock. He is my sure-thing. When those days come where it seems as if nothing can go right, he just holds me tight and everything is somehow better. I am so thankful to be able to spend forever with him. And I am looking forward to what this next year brings. I love you Derek. Happy Anniversary D!

Hot Dog...?

Me (while rubbing my temples): I think I ate too much chocolate.
Derek: Hot dog?
What?
Derek starts laughing really hard.
I am still confused.
Me: What did you say?
Derek (while laughing): I was thinking headache but I said hot dog.
I have no idea where he got "hot dog." :)
